COMMERCIAL LAUNDRY APPLIANCE & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTOR PART-TIMEDAWSON TECHNICAL INSTITUTEConsider joining Kennedy-King College’s Continuing Education Department as a Part-Time Commercial Laundry Instructor. You will have the opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower students to succeed. The Commercial Laundry Instructor will develop and implement appropriate and engaging curriculum at Dawson Technical Institute (DTI) and provide students with on-the-job training at Chicago locations of Our Neighborhood Laundry facilities located at 160 West 79th Street and 1400 East 47th Street.Responsibilities:Develop sessions that safely teach commercial laundry appliance maintenance and allow students to grow their skills and understanding.Responsible for course instruction which includes implementing effective learning strategies and environment, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, and advising students.Ability to teach using different methods and teaching styles, adapting the lessons to meet students’ needs and abilities.Ability to inspire, motivate and empower.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Five years of commercial laundry repair experience required.Experience with hand and power tools required.OSHA Certification preferred.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to instruct in-person at Dawson Technical Institute and travel to the on-the-job training sites.One year of teaching and/or training experience in commercial laundry appliance maintenance preferred.Experience working in a large, urban community college environment with a diverse cultural and ethnic student body is highly desirable.Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to work with various age groups.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and staff.We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Thank you for your interest in City Colleges of Chicago!
