Assistant Director of Employer Relations

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Employer Relations. The Assistant Director serves as a leader in the Career Services Center and provides excellent frontline customer service to employers interested in recruiting at Nevada State University, setting the stage for long-term relationships and the development of new relationships. This position's main responsibilities include:

Providing comprehensive oversight of employer outreach and engagement activities.

Proactively seeking new and innovative methods for providing enhanced services to our employer partners and on-campus recruiters.

Managing employer career event logistics.

Responsible for managing, approving, and assigning new employer accounts and job/internship positions in the Handshake database.

Collecting and analyzing data on post-graduation employment outcomes.

Engaging with faculty/staff to establish employer connections and recognition in and out of the classroom while showcasing the importance of employer engagement with the campus community.

This position will directly supervise 1 professional staff member - Coordinator for Employer Relations & Experiential Learning and may oversee 1-2 student workers.

Core Responsibilities:

Employer Engagement/Relationship Development

Participate in employer recruitment/networking events, chamber events, etc. locally and regionally to help build new employer relationships and stay up to date on local and regional hiring trends and best practices.

Host and/or visit local businesses, government agencies, and organizations to develop job, internship or other employer engagement opportunities in consultation with Director.

Work collaboratively with Director and Coordinator of Employer Relations & Experiential Learning to handle employers of concern, student violations, and efforts to build/maintain strong employer relationships.

Serve as the office expert for Handshake - maintaining and gaining knowledge through ongoing trainings, webinars, and conferences.

Meet regularly with Office of Advancement to promote Career Services to prospective donors interested in supporting the Career Services Center, as well as stay up to date on employer engagement with Nevada State outside of Career Services.

Work with Alumni Relations Coordinator to understand employment trends of our Alumni and provide Alumni opportunities to engage with students through career-related initiatives (on-campus interview days, resume reviews, career mentors, etc.)

Event Coordination, Facilitation & Support

Oversee all aspects of annual Career Fairs/Expos, which includes the Fall Part-Time Job & Internship Expo, the Fall Grad School Expo and the Spring Career Expo, including outreach to employers and students, marketing, etc.

Organize and host hiring events for employers and students to fill current job/internship openings.

Help staff other Career Center events as needed.

Data Collection & Analysis

In collaboration with IT and IE (Institutional Effectiveness), send and collect Post-Graduation Outcome Survey responses. Analyze responses to create reports as requested by Director, VP and other campus stakeholders.

In collaboration with IT, IE, and Alumni Relations, send and collect 6 Month Post Graduation Outcome Survey Responses. Analyze responses to create reports as requested by Director, VP and other campus stakeholders.

Oversee efforts to gather additional employment related data of students and alumni - calling campaigns, reviewing LinkedIn profiles, etc.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited institution.

2 years of experience in student affairs, higher education, career services, employer relations, workforce development, human resources, institutional advancement, donor relations, or community relations.

1 year of supervisory/managerial experience.

Experience with event coordination/management.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to build effective professional relationships with excellent communication (written and oral), listening, and customer service skills.

Strong initiative and ability to work effectively in groups and independently.

Experience with data collection and analysis.

Experience working with diverse populations (first-gen, non-traditional, veterans, ESL, etc.).

Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of workforce and recruiting trends and best practices.

Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems such as Handshake, Symplicity, CSO, etc.

Experience with Career Management (CMS) systems such as Handshake or Symplicity.

Knowledge of core professional career readiness competencies (NACE; National Association of Colleges & Employers).

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $74,241. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
