Counseling ServicesAbout the Department:

The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. It serves all students at NC State through three integrated components: academic affairs, student affairs, and University College.The Counseling Center assists NC State students experiencing personal, academic or vocational problems. The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide students with professional counseling services and outreach to help them cope with issues that may impede successful academic performance.Duties and Responsibilities:Generalist Counselor:Individual and group counseling of NC State students/clients (personal, academic, and vocational assessment and counseling); psychological assessment; developmental and crisis counseling; couples counseling; evaluation of students for withdrawal from the University.Development and participation in Outreach programming.Consultation with faculty staff, parents, and others.Providing evaluations and recommendations regarding students with academic and conduct problems.Some participation in after hours “on call” and possible evening office hours.General administrative responsibilities.Clinical and administration supervision of the center’s Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship program.Internship Program, Training Responsibilities include:Develop, organize and maintain a comprehensive clinical training program designed to meet the needs of Pre-doctoral Psychology Interns.Develop, implement and evaluate activities in a manner that is consistent with accreditation standards and other professional guidelines.Conduct evaluative reviews of the training curricula and implement appropriate changes and enhancements.Coordinate annual Pre-doctoral Intern selection process.Provide clinical supervision to trainees and unlicensed staff members.Qualifications:Minimum Education and Experience:Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology.State of North Carolina Licensed Clinical Psychologist or eligible to attain such licensure within six months of hire.Three years post-doctoral experience in clinical or counseling psychology.2 years of progressive administrative experience preferably in the training and supervision of practicum students and interns.Other Required Qualifications:Commitment to multicultural competencies, strong clinical skills, and experience handling crisis situations.Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a cohesive team-oriented environment.Required License(s) or Certification(s):State of North Carolina Licensed Clinical Psychologist or eligible to attain such licensure within six months of hire.Job Open Date:
