The City of Irvine seeks a Senior Planner in the Community Development Department. The Senior Planner will perform complex level professional planning, project management, and analysis tasks related to assigned projects or duties in the areas of development, environmental review, zoning, General Plan, and land use matters specifically for the Current Planning team.

Your Impact

Assist in the development and implementation of planning goals, policies, and priorities while functioning as a project manager.Review and coordinate assigned special land use planning, zoning, transportation, or environmental studies. Direct, coordinate, review, and participate with professional and technical staff collecting data, analysis, plan formulation, and implementation.Research and prepare memos, letters, and staff reports and present findings and recommendations to Department personnel and decision-makers regarding development proposals.Analyze statistical, written, and oral reports and correspondence related to assigned planning and analytical tasks.Provide information to residents and customers regarding planning standards, codes, and permit requirements at the public counter.Participate in the code compliance process, evaluate permit applications, and comply with conditions of approval.Draft zoning code, development guidelines, and General Plan amendments.Maintain complex databases and assess development projections.Mentor junior-level planning staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning or Engineering, Geography, Architecture, Economics, Public Administration or related field.Five years of professional planning experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.A valid California driver's license.
