Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $21.40 to $25.15 and may commensurate with experience.SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a

Student Recruitment and Outreach Specialist

for our fast-paced, Center for Employment Training program. SOME Center for Employment Training is a tuition-free adult workforce training program that prepares adult learners for national, industry-recognized certifications for careers in Healthcare and the Building Trades. SOME CET empowers people to move out of homelessness and poverty and into living wage careers through hard and soft skills training, adult basic education, and career development.Position Description:

Strategically coordinates and implements recruitment activities and outreach in the community to attract prospective students. The Student Recruiter builds relationships with prospective students in the DC Metro Area, with the hopes of having them enroll in this evidence-based accredited learning institution. This position is ideal for someone that wants to help eliminate education disparities that exist in low-income vulnerable populations by connecting our population with low-cost education options.Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm. The schedule is flexible based on attendance at recruitment events and will require some evenings and weekends.Qualifications:Required:

High School Diploma or GED; 2-3 yrs. experience in Sales or MarketingRequired License/Certification:

Valid Driver’s licenseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to build relationships focused on candidate experience and customer serviceAbility to recruit and new students in a virtual platformTime management skills with the ability to prioritizeAbility to communicate with diverse audiencesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of Marketing and Admissions processesPublic Speaking skillsOrganized with an attention to detailProficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and OutlookCreative problem-solving skillsFlexibility with the ability to be productive despite competing prioritiesExpected Contributions:Implement outreach and communications strategy as developed by the Community & Engagement ManagerPromote and develop recruitment plans for academic programs.Engage with clients and targeted demographic groups to explain educational opportunities and admissions.Attend community events and give presentations at job fairs, schools, and government agencies, both online and in person.Facilitate new student orientation where necessaryMaintain accurate records for all outreach efforts, analyze and inform supervisor on the effectiveness of Outreach and Communication Strategy.Implement follow-up plans for prospective students.Assist with the walk-in process and register students when necessary.Conduct canvassing and hanging flyers in the communities, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies.Assist in developing a recruitment plan for academic programs; promote and maintain awareness of programs and other student services; facilitate ongoing planning/organization of the plan.Conduct research to identify organizations and opportunities to promote the Center for Employment Training (CET)Reports to:
