We are currently seeking a Senior Planner to join our dynamic Community Development Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing professional planning services associated with the daily operations of the Community Development Department. Reviews site plans, building permits, and certificate of use applications.Reviews development applications for completeness and conformity to Land Development Regulations.Researches complex issues and drafts amendments for approval.Ensures adherence to established timelines regarding development petitions; reviews and tracks petition submittals; writes staff reports; reviews comments on site plans; and presents staff recommendations at meetings and public hearings.Attends various meetings on behalf of the department regarding planning, zoning and development initiatives.Functions in a liaison capacity between the City and various governmental, professional, and business entities.Prepares various materials and documentation for public hearings and board presentations, e.g., variances, special exceptions, design variations, vacations of easements, development order amendments, land use plan amendments, and other applicable requests.Maintains current knowledge of issues, trends, and developments in the field of comprehensive municipal planning.Collects data and conducts in-depth research and analysis for development-related reports and studies conducted by the department.Conducts the review of various types of development plans regulated by the City to ensure compliance with state and local requirements.Assists with the periodic review and update of the comprehensive plan, land development code, and other planning and development-related regulations; implements changes to same accordingly.Conducts special projects at the direction of the Deputy Director, Community Development and Director, Community Development as directed, involving in-depth research, analysis, and reporting.Operates City vehicles and possesses a valid Florida Driver’s license.Cross-trains to provide support in other areas of Community Development, as needed.Trains other department personnel on software and equipment operation (i.e. GIS-related equipment and software), and other areas as necessary.Works a schedule as determined by the Department that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and before/after a declared emergency.Performs field inspections.Assists in the public hearing notification efforts of the department.Create, maintain, and update GIS-based Zoning Map, FLU Map, and other GIS-based graphics.Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.What's required: (Minimum Requirements)

Bachelor’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning, or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.Minimum five (5) years of full-time professional work experience in municipal planning or county planning and zoning functions.Possession of a valid driver’s license with an overall good driving record is required. If the driver’s license is out of state, must be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days of the hire date.Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.What's preferred: (Desired Requirements)

Minimum of ten (10) years of full-time professional work experience in municipal planning or county planning and zoning functions; experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
