Planning and ConservationThe Planning and Conservation department has a full-time opening(s) for a Planner I or II. Applicants will be considered for I or II based on Level Minimum Qualifications listed below.Minimum QualificationsLevel I PG 210 starting salary $50,821.00:The purpose of this classification is to perform general professional planning work in various elements of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code, including land use, development, redevelopment, and conservation. This role demands strong analytical skills and unwavering public service, working under the guidance of senior planners and the Planning Director. Collaboration is key as you liaise with diverse stakeholders and play a vital role as an appointed staff liaison, coordinating and managing citizen advisory boards for active participation.Minimum Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in planning, business administration or closely related field with experience as a planning technician or planning intern, preferably in local government. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.Certifications and Licenses:Valid driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record.Level II PG 212 starting salary $56,031.00:Responsible professional work assisting in the administration of the City's Land Development regulations and codes. Work involves reviewing potential development projects, providing internal and external facilitation of development projects and issue resolution associated with the City's overall development and permitting processes. Work involves considerable public contact, often of a sensitive nature and requires the exercise of patience, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy. Responsible for the attendance and presentation of reports to the various Boards and Commissions by the department.Minimum Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Urban and/or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, Economics, Geography, Engineering, or closely related field and four (4) years of related work experience in the field of planning and zoning required, preferably in local government. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Urban and/or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, Economics, Geography, Engineering, or closely related field preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Geographic Information System (GIS) programs and applications, preferred. American Institute Certified Planner (AICP) certified or ability to obtain within four (4) years. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.Certifications and Licenses:
