Position Description

Responsible for the quality of purchased items including new products, new processes, and current system changes to regulatory requirements. Participates in supplier development activities and interacts with suppliers to implement corrective actions, improve control plans, and eliminate defects. Provides analysis of data for informing and/or problem-solving.Job Responsibilities

Implements quality system procedures and recommends improvements, interacts with team members to achieve daily and long-term goals; ensures procedures are followed.Develops quality initiatives to attain and maintain customer satisfaction and focus.Supports the suppliers on quality activities such as Control Plan, FMEA (failure mode & effects analysis), Process Capability Study, MSA (measurement system analysis), and Checklist.Provides technical expertise to the purchasing function.Serves as liaison between the supplier and Briggs and Stratton in quality activities which may include presenting quality trend data for the purpose of informing and problem-solving, working with the suppliers on corrective action reports and verifying their effectiveness.Participates in supplier development activities and interactions with suppliers, implementing corrective actions and improving control plans.Prepares and provides data analysis of finished product and consumer complaint issues and recommends implementation of corrective and preventative actions for supplier improvement and elimination of defects; follows up on process improvements as needed.Performs supplier PPAP (production part approval process) and obtains project team approval.Completes Suppliers' Process Audit and Key Product Audit according to the plan, and follows up with the improvement plan.Performs other duties as assigned.Job Skills Requirements

Thorough knowledge of quality practices and procedures including Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO/QS requirements.Thorough knowledge of quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Control Plans, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, MSA, Design of Experiments, etc.Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances as well as blueprint reading.Proficient in mechanical, electronics, or assembly manufacturing processes with solid troubleshooting skills.Proven ability to prepare and interpret technical information.Good interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, and ability to solve practical problems and quality issues/problems.Language Skills: Fluency in English and the primary language used in the area of responsibility is essential.Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience.Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of related experience in quality or engineering field, fundamental quality experience in machining or assembly type operations or equivalent experience preferred.Physical & Environmental Requirements

Extensive travel.
