Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsible for the quality of purchased items including new products, new processes and current system changes to regulatory requirements. Participates in supplier development activities and interacts with suppliers to implement corrective actions, improve control plans and eliminate defects. Provides analysis of data for informing and/or problem solving.Job Responsibilities
Implements quality system procedures and recommends improvements, interacts with team members to achieve daily and long term goals; ensures procedures are followedDevelops quality initiatives to attain and maintain customer satisfaction and focus.Supports the suppliers on quality activities such as Control Plan, FMEA (failure mode & effects analysis), Process Capability Study, MSA (measurement system analysis), and Checklist, etc.Provides technical expertise to purchasing functionServes as liaison between the supplier and Briggs and Stratton in quality activities which may include presenting quality trend data for the purpose of informing and problem solving, working with the suppliers on corrective action reports and verifying its effectivenessParticipates in supplier development activities and interactions with suppliers, implementing corrective actions & improving control plansPrepares and provides data analysis of finished product and consumer complaint issues and recommends implementation of corrective and preventative actions for supplier improvement and elimination of defects; follows-up process improvements as neededPerforms supplier PPAP (production part approval process) and obtains project team approvalCompletes Suppliers’ Process Audit and Key Product Audit according to the plan, and follows up with the improvement plan.Performs other duties as assignedJob Skills Requirements
Thorough knowledge of quality practices and procedures including Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO/QS requirements.Thorough knowledge of quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Control Plans, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, MSA, Design of Experiments etc.Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances as well as blueprint readingProficient in mechanical, or electronics, or assembly manufacturing process with solid troubleshooting skillsProven ability to prepare and interpret technical informationGood interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, ability to solve practical problems and quality issues/problemsLanguage Skills: Fluency in English and primary language used in area of responsibility is essentialEducation
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experienceExperience Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of related experience in quality or engineering field, fundamental quality experience in machining or assembly type operations or equivalent experience preferredPhysical & Environmental Requirements
Extensive travel
