Lastly, you enjoy working hard and celebrating hard, and you’d be shocked if guests weren’t positively impacted by their interactions with you.Position Summary:The Sustainability Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting and implementing sustainability practices across all events at the State Farm Arena. This individual will be responsible for coordinating and managing sustainability initiatives, ensuring effective waste management, and fostering fan engagement in sustainability efforts during events. The ideal candidate will be passionate about environmental stewardship and possess strong organizational and communication skills to drive sustainable practices in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Key Responsibilities:Event Briefings:Write and distribute daily event briefings to ensure all relevant departments are informed and prepared. Communicate event needs to key stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely dissemination of information across all departments.Event Coverage:Provide coverage before, during, and after events, with hours adjusted based on event-specific timelines. Conduct quality control, audits, and reporting to ensure adherence to sustainability standards.Event Forecasting:Forecast upcoming events to ensure all aspects of event readiness are met, including staffing, supplies, and sustainability measures.Waste Material Pickup Schedules:Develop and manage schedules for the pickup and disposal of waste materials, ensuring compliance with sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.Event Checklists:Update and monitor event checklists to guarantee the implementation and adherence to sustainability measures during each event.Inter-Departmental Communication:Facilitate effective communication between departments to ensure a cohesive approach to event management and sustainability practices. Host regular meetings to discuss feedback and improvements.Fan Engagement:Lead sustainability efforts through concourse and in-game recycling fan activations, engaging with fans to promote environmentally friendly behaviors.Data Management:Manage and analyze data related to key waste materials, using insights to drive improvements in sustainability practices.Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):Ensure the creation, compliance, and continuous review of SOPs related to sustainability and event management.Waste Material Management:Assist in setting up properly labeled waste bins throughout the arena and conduct audits to identify and address contamination issues.Project Management:Manage special projects related to sustainability, coordinating with relevant teams and stakeholders for successful execution. Work with vendors and contractors to support sustainability and automation initiatives.Qualifications:Required:Minimum of 2 years of experience in sustainability coordination, event management, or a related field.Strong organizational and project management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.Passion for promoting environmental sustainability in large-scale events.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of sustainability practices and regulatory requirements in the events industry.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Sport Management, Event Management, Business, or a related field.Experience in the events or entertainment industry.Certification in sustainability or environmental management.Experience with data analysis and reporting.Work Environment:Operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Work on-site during events, including evenings and weekends.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment and waste items up to 50 lbs.
