Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor

Department: Quality

Reports to: Sr. Quality Supervisor

Classification: Exempt

Location: Pleasant Prairie, WI

SUMMARY:

Supervises hourly employees in a manufacturing environment: plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures. Improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increase subordinate’s skills and capabilities. Assist Shift Superintendent in improving production, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, employee relations, and performance management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure goals and objectives are achieved pertaining to safety, quality, productivity and cost.

Development of Q.A. Technicians by coaching and training.

Responsible for corrective action of direct reports by counseling, disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising work performance.

Responsible for GMP, HACCP and SSOP program documentation.

Responsible for the accurate and timely completion and/or review of Q.A. and Production documentation.

Responsible for the tracking and trending of quality and food safety metrics and preparing reports for management.

Manage the quality/food safety hold program by placing non-conforming product on hold and managing the inventory of non-conforming product.

Act as a plant liaison to the USDA.

Delegate and coordinate day-to day assignments to the Q.A. personnel.

Perform verification of pre-shipment for product release.

Responsible for conducting swab verification of the equipment during pre-op and while production is running.

Ensure all samples for chemical and microbiological testing are correctly sampled and analyzed.

Recommends new processes, equipment and procedures to enhance and improve the functioning of the plant.

Assure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout all operations and processes.

Responsible for preparing samples requested by new or existing customers.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s in science, biology or field related is strongly preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience in food processing (supervisory experience preferred).

Must possess good verbal and written communication.

Candidate should be well-rounded in safety, security, quality, USDA, productivity, and employee empowerment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
