With over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, supporting six long-term water sector frameworks and two recently won frameworks, operating both as a sole contractor but also in joint ventures and alliances.The Role: Our client is looking to strengthen their operations team with a Planned Outage Manager for their Southern Water joint venture framework. Based at a water supply works near Rochester, Kent, you will take responsibility for the Supply Planned Outage Process at this site, working alongside the operational and delivery team.The Planned Outage Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and continuity of operations on the water supply site, balancing the need for efficient construction while maintaining a safe working environment. Assess the risk level of each planned outage and should the risk level or complexity be evaluated as such, the High Risk/High Complexity permit process will be followed.Responsibilities:

You will report directly to the Senior Project Manager and responsibilities of the role will include:Safety Management:

Develop, implement, and monitor safety plans for all installation and commissioning activities as part of planned outages. Conduct thorough risk assessments for all planned operations, identifying potential hazards and implementing control measures to mitigate risks. Manage the PTW system, ensuring that all high-risk activities are properly authorized, documented, and conducted according to safety protocols.Operational Control:

Coordinate site operations as part of any planned outages, ensuring that they are conducted in a controlled and safe manner. This includes the scheduling and sequencing of work to minimize risks.Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure that all planned outage operations on the site comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits of the process, addressing any non-compliance or safety concerns promptly. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all planned outage-related activities, including risk assessments, permits, inspections, single point of failure analysis and incident reports.Communication and Coordination:

Act as a liaison between different stakeholders (operations, maintenance, contractors, and management) to ensure clear communication of safety requirements and operational plans. Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks to ensure all personnel are aware of the risks and safety measures for their tasks.Competency:

Monitor the competency of personnel, ensuring that only qualified and trained individuals are authorized to perform specific tasks, especially those involving high-risk activities. Ensure that all planned outage operations are conducted in a way that minimizes environmental impact, particularly in sensitive areas such as water sources and treatment facilities.Experience:

Extensive experience of planned outage management, ideally within the water industry. Proven ability to manage a large team in a multi-supplier environment. Knowledge and understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training. Engineering or construction experience.Benefits:
