Job Description:

The position of Admissions Officer 2/ Evaluator requires a highly specialized skill set in which the individual must demonstrate expertise of LSU’s undergraduate admission policies, senior college requirements, state-wide articulation agreements and regional accreditation practices.The individual charged with the evaluation of credentials plays a critical role in the acceptance of students to the University. The decisions rendered by this individual are highly influential to transfer student yield and scholarship awarding.Evaluate/process credentials for students applying for domestic university admission for regular and online programs; ensure requirements have been met using established admission policies and guidelines. Conduct unbiased research to ascertain institutional accreditation and transferability of courses. Evaluate applicants on ability to meet senior college requirements and communicate with other academic units, senior colleges and transfer institutions when collaboration is required. Evaluate transcripts for continuing students based on knowledge of both university regulations and individual senior college requirements. This position is responsible for evaluating applications for online programs to determine admissibility for all student populations, including freshman, transfer, re-entry. Proficient understanding of admissions policies such as 25+, academic renewal, and Board of Regents admissions guidelines are required. 60%Research and interpret information that affects admission/enrollment on a variety of levels. Apply functional knowledge to analyze and respond to matters requiring professional judgment. Demonstrate careful and objective consideration of information to make admit decisions and/or informed recommendations for those students who do not yet meet admission requirements. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of departmental policies/procedures and state-wide articulation. 25%Review transfer files to ensure accuracy of the student record before it becomes a part of the permanent student file. Update student record as new information is submitted. Must possess a critical eye, as the information conveyed by Admissions is reported to the Office of Budget & Planning, the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance, and may be referenced in a university audit. 10%Must be knowledgeable of the entire suite of technical platforms utilized, thereby able to cross-train and provide flexibility and job rotation when necessary. Will be responsible for any other duties assigned by the Assistant Director of Admissions and Director of Admissions. 5%Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in an admissions office. Direct experience as it relates to the review of student credentials and transfer credit; experience working with tech platforms such as Slate and Salesforce.Inherent in this job is a high level of critical thinking, acute attention to detail, and the individual must possess a strong sense of orientation toward enrollment strategy. It is of critical importance that the transfer credit evaluator is meticulous in all duties with an everyday focus on accuracy and attention to detail, as his/her evaluation of transfer credit impacts the university on numerous levels. The individual must also possess a sound level of discernment when evaluating transfer credit to maintain compliance with state-wide articulation agreements and the LA GRAD Act, which commits the institution to meeting specific performance objectives for transfer students.Special Qualifications:

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services.
