Description

As a Surgery Scheduler, float, you will be responsible for patient scheduling, admissions, and therapeutic procedures: obtaining insurance authorizations, answering, screening, and responding to incoming calls, preparing all documentation, charts, and other information needed for physician clinics, scheduling patient appointments, x-rays, surgery, and tests. Prepare all necessary documents and forward them to appropriate departments including insurance authorizations, charge documents, reconciliations, and disability and worker's compensation forms. Explain charges to patients and assist them with billing questions, communicating directly with department billing and Physician Support Services. Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing units, and other UCLA departments. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as needed. Responsibilities also include providing support in appointment scheduling, pre-registration, patient reception, cash collection, and other related duties. The AAIII will travel and work at department clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage. Other duties as assigned.Salary Range:

Required:Demonstrated general knowledge of OB/GYN procedures and terminologyDemonstrated basic knowledge of third-party insurances, government programs, and other insurance agencies for purposes of assigning financial class codes and obtaining any necessary authorizationsAbility to research medical diagnosis and procedure codes in CPT Code book and ICD-10_CM code bookDemonstrated computer skills including word-processing, use of spreadsheets, and data entryAbility to understand and correctly use technical terminology, correctly identify and extract data from hospital records, enter data on flow sheets or in computer, and maintain study recordsKnowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, and OutlookSkill and experience in composing clear and understandable written memos and reports using correct grammarSkill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely and accurate mannerSkill in communicating with patients, families, and referring physicians with diplomacyAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, residents, research associates, fellows, students, and staff, as well as outside granting agenciesSuperior typing skills to prepare correspondence, reports, and other written materials with speed and accuracyAbility to work flexible hours and travel to department clinics, as assignedStrongly Preferred:Knowledge of University's Electronic Medical Record SystemKnowledge of UCLA School of Medicine and hospital nursing processesFluent in Spanish
