Responsibilities:Designs, plans, implements, and evaluates complex multifaceted research projects/systems, including method development, adaptation, and validation.Collaborates with PI to define research endeavors and the development of research hypothesis and approach.Solves complex methodology, protocol, procedural, and research problems through design of techniques, procedures, and policies that will achieve research goals.Develops long-range plans for supplies and equipment to ensure smooth operation of laboratory.Investigates, analyzes, and evaluates complex data, data collection systems, and methods to reach scientific conclusions and ensures the integrity of research data.Collaborates with PI to coordinate major lab renovations working with Facilities, Health and Safety, and Purchasing to ensure deadlines, safety standards, and purchases are according to plans and within budgets.Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports.May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:Proven experience working and collaborating with public or private land managers or policymakers. Ability to foster collaborations and networks with external partners including other research institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders.Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior researchers and students.Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific findings to diverse audiences, including policymakers, land managers, and funders.Proficiency in relevant research techniques, methods, analytical tools, and models including measuring ecosystem greenhouse gas fluxes, ecosystem carbon accounting, ecosystem modeling, biodiversity measurements, experimental design, statistical analysis, GIS is highly preferred.Familiarity with carbon crediting protocols, emerging carbon markets, and greenhouse gas accounting preferred.

Preferred Education:

Ph.D. or Master's degree with commensurate experience (3-4 years) in a relevant field such as ecology, conservation, restoration and land management, forestry, agroecology, soil ecology, environmental science. Substantial demonstrated experience (at least 3-5 years, including time in school), conducting applied science or land-management research projects.

Work Week:

Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)
