Climbing Wall Lead Staff

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Climbing Wall Lead Staff, you will provide supervision, leadership, and motivation for participants in climbing wall programming under the supervision of the Program Director. Individuals in this role are responsible for providing a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
You will prepare lesson plans with a natural progression appropriate to the age and ability of the participant.
You will lead and assist participants in skill development and activities.
You will enforce all safety rules and regulations at the climbing wall, while creating a fun and exciting environment.
Assist and support leading the climbing wall programs under the directions of program director.
Assist in recruiting and leading volunteers to assist with programming support.
Create and maintain class schedules and rosters.
Are you a good fit?
You are a high school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
You have one year or more of related experience rock climbing.
You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
You are able to demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
You have experience or education in recreation, physical education, or related field. You are belay certified.
You have a positive attitude and previous experience with youth and diverse populations.
You have knowledge and skills in rock climbing and related equipment, and the ability to instruct participants in techniques.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
Willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.
Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
Wage:
$16.78 to $18.78 per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours:
Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
