POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

Full Time, 40 hours per week

Monday through Friday

Location: Norwich, CT

Applicants must be available to travel for training, conferences, meetings, field reviews, etc.

A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required and must be maintained.

P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit.

DISCOVER THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

The District 2 Surveys Unit performs various functions including:

Performing mapping, field, and land surveying duties.

Utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) system and other computer applications.

Developing topographic mapping and Digital Terrain Models (DTM).

Operating survey field instruments.

Performing complex computations for survey control networks.

Performing related duties as required.

THE ROLE-PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY/SALARY:

Transportation Engineer Trainee receives training to develop technical engineering skills and knowledge. After successfully completing a one-year training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to the target class of Transportation Engineer 1 (Engineering) or Transportation Engineer 1 (Construction Engineering) after successful completion of the (1) year training program. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week and is in the P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Will possess general knowledge of land surveying and transportation.

Experience with construction engineering theories, principles, and methods.

Skill in use of computer-aided design software (MicroStation preferred) and other computer applications including Word and Excel.

Will possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Will possess organizational and interpersonal skills.

Possess the ability to read and analyze construction plans and estimates.
