What You'll Be Doing:As the North America Planning Senior Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day transportation operations, ensuring contracted carriers comply with shipping requirements and operate in alignment with DOT, IATA, IMDG, and EPA regulations. You will manage the outsourcing of North American freight operations and ensure the safe and timely transportation of hazardous chemicals and waste. You’ll also lead the freight forwarding team, overseeing the efficient movement of OTR and rail operations, ensuring system accuracy, and maximizing operational efficiency. This role has profit & loss responsibility as it is one of our key lines of business, which involves maintaining strong relationships with customers and contracted carriers, managing margins, as well as managing invoicing, auditing, and compliance initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing the overall profitability of the line of business while working with the business development team for new and expanded opportunities.

Overseeing the outsourcing of North American transportation services, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Managing the day-to-day freight forwarding team and ensuring the smooth operation of OTR and rail transportation.

Ensuring contracted carriers meet Rinchem’s shipping requirements and expectations.

Managing transportation-related CAPA reporting and maintaining training compliance across your team.

Collaborating with internal teams such as Business Development, Human Resources, and IT to drive cross-functional success.

Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Rinchem’s transportation operations and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

Assuring accurate billing, auditing of freight services, and customer service excellence in collaboration with other departments.

Scope and Responsibilities:Some of your duties will include:

Serving as a subject matter expert on Rinchem's Chem-Star TMS for domestic transportation.

Managing day-to-day freight forwarding operations and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Collaborating with Rinchem-owned assets to optimize efficiency and profitability.

Ensuring accurate billing audits and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external customers.

Leading and developing your team, ensuring they have the training and support needed to meet Rinchem’s operational standards.

Driving process improvements and implementing cost-saving initiatives to enhance Rinchem’s supply line and transportation efficiency.

Managing carrier relationships, including vetting, contracting, compliance, and rate negotiation.

Serving as an escalation point for the transportation team and maintaining compliance across all areas.

Qualifications:You should have the following:

Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management.

At least 4 years of progressive experience in transportation management, with a focus on hazardous materials and/or pharmaceutical transportation.

Strong knowledge of DOT, EPA, IATA, IMDG, and other federal and state regulations.

Proven ability to manage a team and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Business development acumen with experience in building relationships with customers and carriers.

Communication Skills:

Effective leadership and team management abilities.

Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Ability to quickly learn and become proficient with Rinchem’s transportation management system.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Self-motivated and capable of leading in both structured and ambiguous environments.

You’ll also need to be able to:

Read, write, speak and comprehend the English language, including deciphering contract language.

See both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).

Identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).

Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including occasionally arriving early, staying late on a moment’s notice and occasional evening and weekend shifts.
