Pharmacists Mutual Insurance has an opening for a Risk Management Consultant. This role provides risk management services and advises clients on best practices related to their existing operations and programs (employee safety, fleet, property conservation, etc.). The role assists clients with identifying hazards within their facilities and, as appropriate, provides recommendations for improved practices. The role also discusses and provides services to support client needs and/or improve the account’s loss history (i.e., employee safety training, safety committee support, and evaluation of building fire protection systems). This position will routinely engage with existing and prospective clients. Comprehensive reports will be completed that evaluate hazards and controls for risk selection to enable profitable growth. Daily activities will include scheduling client engagements, processing client correspondence and inquiries, report completion and recommendation follow-up, and coordination with claims and underwriting partners. Requires little to no direction from Manager.Evaluates low to high complexity risk independently.This position includes the role of a trainer, mentor, coach, and Company representative.Must demonstrate a history of high-quality work and is capable of setting a positive example to others within the department.May be asked to serve as a Subject Matter Expert in a specific area of business.May be asked to create and contribute to the strategic direction of the assigned area of expertise.Essential FunctionsConducts comprehensive analysis of hazards, exposures, controls, and the effectiveness of controls for current and prospective members.Determines appropriate risk rating based on professional judgment combined with Pharmacists Mutual guidelines.Identifies technically sound risk improvement solutions to help members manage risk. Creates and recommends service objectives based on the risk assessment and loss analysis and escalates to subject matter expert (SME) when appropriate.Coordinates meetings with internal and external business partners to discuss service opportunities and maximize relationships.Communicates risk evaluations and recommendations through technical reports.Analyzes industry information, business, or historical loss. Identifies service objectives based on the loss trends or data.Maintains proper records of member interactions and suggestions made to members.Assists with account stewardship and ensures excellent member outcomes.Completes assigned tasks based on established time and service standards. Balances workload with peers and ensures work is handled at the appropriate level.Consults with members, peers, and business partners regarding observations, solutions, and follow-ups to meet business needs. Functions as an ongoing resource and contact person.Works cooperatively and builds strong working relationships with leadership, field mentors, and peers to share and gather information necessary to complete work.Engages current and prospective members and may make regularly scheduled visits to provide services that support members in meeting their risk management goals.Participates in training classes, and department and company meetings.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of safety and risk management practices and principles, including regulatory (OSHA, DOT, etc.) and national consensus codes (NFPA, etc.) preferred.Understands commercial insurance business process and the fundamental role of loss control in that process.Maintains technical proficiency through continuing education, maintenance of technical designation(s), and independent work.Ability to read and understand regulatory compliance regulations and respond to technical inquiries.Ability to produce state-required reports and coordinate the activities of others to meet needs.Exceptional technical and interpersonal skills.Use inductive and deductive reasoning skills to interpret information.Ability to use initiative and apply innovative thinking.Ability to provide quality member service.Ability to organize and prioritize work.Establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment through written and oral communication.Ability to work independently to make critical decisions and analyze complex issues.Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of all goals and objectives.Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations.Obtain and utilize sensitive information discreetly and objectively.Maintain records; prepare reports/correspondence related to the work.Read, interpret, and input data efficiently and accurately.Determine when to escalate concerns to the appropriate level of management.Utilize computer and related software effectively.Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation.Experience and Education QualificationsRisk Management Consultant II

HS Diploma or equivalent and 15 years of related experience; ORAssociate's Degree or equivalent and 12 years of related experience; ANDOne of the following industry-related certifications: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)ORBachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; ORMaster's Degree and 5 years of related experience.Special Requirements, Licenses and CertificatesRisk Management Consultant II and Sr.

Experience at an insurance company or agency.All levels:

Meets training and education requirements for states they are assigned.Significant travel, up to 75% of the time, often overnight will be required.Preferred QualificationsRisk Management Consultant II and Sr.

Degree in environmental health and safety, construction management, risk management, basic science, or related technical field.Work EnvironmentPrimary work environment is in the field visiting members.Work will involve travel to attend meetings and conduct surveys at other locations.Primary office location will be remote at the employee’s home office.Work will require travel and field time in all weather conditions.Must wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment as needed.Significant travel, up to 75% of the time, often overnight will be required.
