We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Mid-Level Product Manager with a strong background in UK Government projects. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and a solid grasp of Agile methodologies. This role is integral to driving digital transformation initiatives while ensuring alignment with government objectives and user needs.Position OverviewAs a Product Manager, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across policy, operations, technology, and design to deliver user-centric digital products that meet high-quality standards. You’ll be responsible for managing the entire product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery, ensuring that each stage is aligned with GDS guidelines and Agile principles.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and management of digital products, ensuring alignment with GDS standards and user needs.Collaborate with stakeholders across government departments, including policy, operations, and technology teams, to define product vision and strategy.Prioritise product features and backlog items based on user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.Facilitate Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely and effective delivery.Ensure product development aligns with GDS service assessments, including preparing documentation and presenting at key stage reviews.Conduct user research and testing to inform product decisions and iteratively improve the service.Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors as needed.Analyse performance data, generate insights, and produce reports to inform continuous improvement and decision-making.About You:Proven experience as a Product Manager within UK Government or Civil Service, with a strong understanding of government processes and regulations.Solid experience with GDS standards and delivering products that meet service assessments.Expertise in Agile methodologies and practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), with a track record of successfully leading Agile teams.Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse groups.Demonstrated experience in user-centred design and using user research to inform product decisions.Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver pragmatic solutions.Experience with backlog management tools such as Jira, Trello, or similar.Desirable Qualifications:Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or other Agile certifications.Experience in leading digital transformation projects within government contexts.Familiarity with the digital, data, and technology profession in government (DDaT framework).Certified Project Manager would be ideal.What We Offer:Competitive salary between £40,000 – £55,000, based on experience.Hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to work from home and regular travel to our offices in Kent, England, or Scotland.Opportunities for continuous professional development and career growth.A supportive and collaborative work environment within a team committed to delivering impactful digital services.
