We will continually improve both the delivery of our products and services and the processes that support that delivery to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound, and fiscally responsible transportation system that delivers economic opportunity and enhances the quality of life in Kentucky.By joining our Department of Highways, District 7, Project Development Branch, Utilities Section as a Transportation Engineer Supervisor in Fayette County, you’ll have the opportunity to plan, assign, and supervise the work of the Utility Section Staff in District Seven.Holders of the Transportation Engineer Supervisor position will complete tasks such as:Approve utility agreements and other legally binding documents. Enforce the KY Transportation Cabinet's Utility Accommodation Policy.Analyze, review and resolve outstanding utility issues.Develop strategies for relocation of facilities.Coordinate with Design and Right of Way Sections on projects.Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:Ability to perform direct line supervision of the activities of an engineering program.Ability to interpret and draft professional and technical papers and reports.Ability to determine ways and means for proper expenditure of funds for various transportation programs.Ability to review and analyze transportation plan data.Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:Must be a licensed professional engineer by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure.Must have two years of engineering experience. Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:

A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:

NONESPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):

Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
