Description

Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) provides health care access for eligible low-income residents of Kentucky including children, families, pregnant women, the aged and the disabled as well as a number of programs and services directed at specific eligibility and medical needs. DMS strives each day to meet the mission of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to be a diverse and inclusive organization providing programs, services and supports that protect and promote the health and well-being of all Kentuckians and their communities.

The Assistant Director II position will provide management oversight to branches within Health Care Policy.

Responsibilities and duties included but not limited to:

Provides administrative and technical support to the division director with Medicaid programs.

Assists with the development and implementation of procedure and policy manuals governing current Medicaid programs.

Supervises branches within Health Care Policy Division.

Drafts suggested regulation changes or program policy changes.

Evaluates routine special & technical reports to monitor efforts to increase efficiency & effectiveness of agency activities.

Represents the Division/Department or Cabinet on task forces, committee, councils or meetings as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of Kentucky Medicaid

Supervisory experience

Organizational skills

The ability to communicate clearly and effectively

Experience with policy and procedure documents

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:

Five years of administrative or management experience, two of which must include direct supervision of personnel.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:

A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:

Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
