Job Overview:
The Business Analytics and Insights business group uses an integrated, strategic approach to driving sustainable growth in revenue and margin. Our purpose is to drive achievement of net sales, gross margin, and market share goals by delivering solid business plans, comprehensive reporting, and actionable insights. The BAI team supports this outcome by creating and improving pricing, promotional processes, forecasting accuracy and integrating tools. BAI collaborates most closely with Marketing, Sales and Finance.
Job Summary
The Category Manager will leverage category and market insights to develop strategic, actionable recommendations that align with PetIQ and retailer objectives. This role will analyze data to optimize product mix, pricing, promotions, and category health. Reporting to the Director of Category Management and Insights, the Category Manager will collaborate with Sales and Marketing, delivering monthly performance reviews and driving growth opportunities.
Key Accountabilities:
Research and analyze category and consumer trends using syndicated data and retailer POS to identify growth opportunities.
Collaborate with Sales to build powerful selling stories that Inspire Action to Growth.
Collaborate with Marketing to identify market size/opportunity after factoring for cannibalization of potential product launches.
Other Responsibilities:
Deliver monthly category performance reviews and communicate emerging trends.
Develop and present fact-based, actionable recommendations for product, brand, retailer, and category growth.
Track seasonal item performance and promotional effectiveness, contributing to forward-looking sales planning and budgeting.
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant CPG work experience
3+ years Category Management and/or Shopper Insights experience
Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Advanced experience with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Numerator, Stackline)
Ability to travel (no more than 10%)
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Comfortable and skilled in presenting and creating strong partner relationships
Strong Traditional Category Management/Analysis skills with developed understanding of the Omnichannel/ecommerce shopping trends
Strong presentation/public speaking skills
Data mining and consumer research expertise
Strong analytical and data insight capabilities
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Ability to connect insights with actionable recommendations in concise story-telling formats
