We are seeking a candidate for the Logistics Coordinator position at our San Marcos, CA office.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRecommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.Assist in monitoring specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems. Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.Help design & implement policies or procedures for logistics activities.Provide freight rate quotes for Operations and Sales departments.Book shipments for Operations department.Manage delays and exceptions alerts, relaying information to appropriate parties.Utilize reports and systems to help resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.Assist in processing Bills of Lading, to ensure accuracy of shipments.Process Missing Bill of Lading report and monitor daily shipments.Send picking sheets to 4pl freight broker once order is processed by our order processing team.Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.Help develop procedures and optimize processes involving logistics systems.Help develop risk management programs & reliable contingencies, to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.Review global, national, or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.Other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.Education/ ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED, at a minimum. College degree preferred.In addition, at least three (3) years of job-related experience is normally required to perform this job.Computer SkillsWorking knowledge of Mac based desktop computer and server-based networks.Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.Knowledge of desktop publishing tools and basic graphic design software abilities.General RequirementsAbility to read and interpret business documents.Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive company information.Ability to analyze and solve problems.Superior verbal and written communication skills.Works well effectively with others.Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and memos.Maintain accurate and complete records.Pay attention to detail.Work independently under general supervision using initiative and good business judgment.Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multitask, and use time productively and efficiently.Provides prompt and courteous customer service.Proven decision-making skills.Valid driver's license.Mathematical SkillsBasic mathematical skills are required. Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commission.Reasoning AbilityMust have strong skills involving the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.Physical/Environmental RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, communicate, normally by talking, listening, writing, and typing, move about the office, usually by standing and walking, reach arms and hands, inspect by taste, touch, smell, and sight. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, climb, and balance. May be required to lift up to 10 lbs. Required to operate telephones, computers, and other standard office equipment.The employee works in the field and in the office. Travel by car, plane, or other transportation is required. While at the office, regular work in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office with a moderate degree of noise.Travel RequirementsTravel for training, warehouse inspections, and vendor meetings as needed.
