Senior Buyer

We are looking for a Buyer / Supplier Scheduler for our Grand Rapids, MI location, who has the desire, capability and experience to passionately support our purchasing initiatives.
Ridgeview Industries is a leading metal stamping, welding and assembly manufacturing company primarily serving the automotive market. Our privately held company, founded upon Christian principles, currently employs approximately 600 team members across 4 plant locations.
Position Responsibilities
Purchasing lead for product launch activities, including awarding supplier’s new business and monitoring early material requirements.
Manage OEM Resale submissions and activities, GM, Honda, etc.
Pursue continuous improvement opportunities, including negotiating cost saves and material driven price changes.
Global search for best value pricing for purchase products.
Work with Engineering on all time line activities for engineering changes that impact raw materials and purchased parts.
Create and maintain appropriate project files (budget, Launch, Quality activities, PO, etc).
Support all raw material d-launch activities.
Monitor supplier delivery performance and collect data for reporting.
Process return claims for defective products.
Support quality on raw material and communicate with supplier technical contacts (automotive raw material specifications).
Establish and maintain vendor metrics such as on-time delivery and quality.
Position Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalent.
Understanding of prints and specifications, understanding progressive die process a plus.
Minimum of six years of related experience as a buyer with the automotive environment a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, QAD experience a plus, with emphasis on supply chain master scheduling and MS Office Suite.
Understanding of IATF/ISO standards as applied to suppliers.
Analytical skills to handle complex situations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including professional presentation skills.
Negotiation skills to resolve complicated situations that are often sensitive in nature.
Ability to review and compare quotes.
Customer service skills to display a service-oriented attitude in addressing and responding to customer and supplier issues.
