Job title : Operations Lead
Pay : Starting at $26 - $31 an hour, depending on experience.
Schedule : Monday-Friday 5:30am to 2pm (Working hours subject to change due to business needs)
Location : Bothell, Washington
The Operation Lead helps to ensure that their yard achieves its goals by providing guidance and direction to operational employees in the yard. This position is responsible for making sure yard operations are running both efficiently and safely from loading customer vehicles to planning delivery routes and vehicle maintenance.
This position reports directly to the Yard Manager and works closely with all yard personnel.
Qualifications
2 years of previous experience in a similar job
1 year of leadership experience
preferred
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
OSHA Certified Forklift License
Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
Must be able to type 40+ WPM
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Must have reliable transportation
Duties and Responsibilities
Use independent judgment and exercise discretion when performing supervisory duties, evaluating employees, training employees, assigning and distributing work to employees
Establish and maintain a comfortable and safe working environment for all employees
Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers
Identify and respond to the need for personnel changes at the yard, and assist in hiring of new employees
Holds team accountable for proper usage and care of all assets
Assign overtime work consistent with Company policies
Make recommendations for layoffs and recalls
Investigate employee misconduct and safety violations
Create and maintain a well-rounded staff through cross-training, open communications, and continuing education
Maintain corporate guidelines and criteria for customer service
Ensure cleanliness of yard is maintained and holds team accountable for such behavior
Ensure an appropriate level of inventory is maintained at the yard
Respond to customer complaints and concerns
Efficiently schedule delivery orders and credit returns
Set the work schedule for truck drivers and yard employees
Assist Driver's Safety Committee in accident investigation
Remain current on changing Federal and state laws in regards to interstate commerce and the operation of commercial motor vehicles
Ensure daily safety audit of forklifts and trucks are performed, and that malfunctioning equipment is promptly reported
Encourages and ensures team arrives on time and prepared to work
Accepts experienced team member's advice and feedback
Flexibility to work for extended hours as needed
Assists other team members with work when appropriate
Helps set goals and meet company deadlines for team
Focused on and encourages promoting from within
Encourages and ensures team is ready to help cover other yards in region
Assist Fleet Manager in maintaining a safe, efficient and well-kept fleet
Assist the Driver Trainer in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-trained staff of truck drivers
Participates in DDMS dispatch scheduling
Opens & closes yard as needed
Proactively uses resources to seek information, partners with others in the company to solve problems
Assists drivers with job site and road challenges
Participates with inventory prep and post procedures
Takes an active role in developing and managing locations for inventory
Applies for overlength permits when needed
Able to complete basic Falcon order entry, invoicing, backorders, etc.
Prepares and submits monthly fuel and mileage reports
Ensures team checks every load in an effort to maximize OTIF
Works to improve truck turn time in the yard, can point to improvements the team has made
Conducts interview and hiring of yard personnel with the leadership team
Effectively reads SKUS and identifies material types to determine building time as well as truck journey value
Facilitates group discussions with key members for best practices and yard setup
Knows product locations in yard and warehouses, coaches entire team to know as well
Able to seek out product transactions and order history
Facilitates monthly yard meetings for the entire yard crew
Participates in creating an annual budget
Attends PK's and encourages the entire team to attend
Orders yard supplies and necessary services etc.
Enforces attendance policy up to and including creating and delivering PINS
Prepares and delivers reviews
Review upcoming delivery tickets and compare to inventory levels to reduce the potential for backorders
Assists with scheduling of DOT physicals
Shares delivery forecast daily and with team
Relays company announcements to team in helpful, supportive way
Always answers phones promptly with a professional greeting
Responds to emails promptly and professionally with correct grammar and spelling
Walks yard daily and communicates appropriately low stock and outage issues
Regularly checks in with Sales Team to seek opportunities for team improvement
Builds bridges with purchasing and sales team to manage inventory effectively
Team members wear high visibility/proper uniform
Reviews daily equipment inspections weekly
First Aid and AED certified
Participates on safety committee as needed
Prepares necessary accident and claim reports
Schedules maintenance and repair of all equipment in a timely and efficient manner
This position primarily works outdoors in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Must be able to drive a company vehicle when necessary
Ability to utilize all appropriate safety equipment
