This means that the Counter Salesperson is in many cases the face of the company for customers and should demonstrate our FACE values. This position's main duty is providing sales assistance to walk-in and telephone customers. As time allows, they receive and stock inventory and perform general clean up and merchandising of the store.Directly reports to Yard Manager. Interacts daily with Yard Manager, Assistant Yard Manager, Yard Supervisor (or Operation Lead), Inventory Specialist, Contractor Salespeople, delivery people, and internal & external customers.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDMust be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the jobMust be able to type 30+ WPMProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookClass C driver's license or reliable alternative transportation

requiredKnowledge of retail sales principles, practices, and protocolsKnowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materialsAbility to ten-key by touchAbility to read and interpret blueprintsAbility to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environmentOSHA Certified Forklift License helpfulDuties and ResponsibilitiesAssist Inventory Specialist in maintaining an appropriate level of inventoryPerform empty peg counts and research variancesAs time allows, assist outside crew by loading customer vehicles and preparing loads for deliveryAdhere to company policiesAssist other team members with their work when appropriateBe attentive to counter and phonesCommunicate with Receiver regarding status of cancelled orders or materials returned to suppliersCommunicate professionally to yard crew via radioConsistently display problem-solving skills with customers and co-workersKeep store clean and maintain counter displays of merchandise and literatureNotify customer when product arrivesConfirm delivery time with customer after scheduled in DDMSAnswer customer's questions, process estimates and orders for customerDevelop and maintain a professional and effective relationship with customersComplete basic ERP order entry; POs, backorders, and change ordersInvoice customers for building materialsOrder stock, special order products for customers, and process credit returnsEnsure that appropriate paperwork is accurately completed as per company policyRegularly attend PK meetingsComplete AMT trainingFollow all AR account and cash handling proceduresProcess tax adjustments when necessaryCoordinate tool repairs servicesUtilize the interyard transfer systemUnderstand weight, height, and length limits, to inform customer of being able to safely handle or transport materialKnow site condition requirements for our delivery fleetProcess ROA payments with required informationUnderstand pricing levels and limits discountingAble to seek out product transactions and order historyUse all functions of MitelManage Outlook and personal notebookSearch inventory and open orders in all yards to meet customer's preferred optionAll other duties as assignedThe primary working conditions are at the sales counter of one of PARR's retail locations.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire dayMust be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboardMust be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feetMust be able to work outdoors in all weather conditionsMust be able to drive a vehicle when necessaryBoth local and overnight travel may be requiredWe know that without great people, we can't be a great company.
