Job Summary

As a Line Groundworker for the City of Fort Collins' Light & Power Utility, you will play a crucial role in the construction, operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of both high and low-voltage electric distribution infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the installation of power lines, performing routine maintenance checks, conducting inspections to ensure safety and reliability, and promptly responding to repair needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

Installs, maintains, repairs and assists qualified personnel in the operation of the City's electric distribution system.Maintains high and low voltage equipment.Assists qualified employees with high voltage switching and load transfer.Works overtime when required.Must be willing and able to be on-call 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.Maintains vehicle truck stock, tools, and materialsWorks closely with heavy equipment operators to expose utilities, dig trenches, pole holes, etc.Operates and maintains specialized line construction equipment such as directional boring machine, bucket truck, and backhoe.Installs and maintains electrical residential and commercial metering.Interprets material needs from work orders and blueprints.May direct the work of other crew members.Assists in training and development of crew members.Manages databases and programs by collecting and entering information.Inspects work for completion and conformance to standards.Teaches safety and job- related classes for the utility department and the public.Provides customer service by answering questions, providing information and referrals, and resolving complaints and problems.Maintains cooperative and compatible working relations with internal and external customers, employees, contractors, and managers.Assumes responsibility for job site, employee, and public safety in instances where line workers, line crew chiefs, and others may not be present.Management Responsibilities

Experience Requirements
