We provide a safe and challenging work environment that is mostly done in an indoor and heated shop and take great pride in knowing that we build a product that helps serve and protect others.Job SummaryThe welder/fabricator is a skilled manufacturing position that is responsible for supporting the building process of aluminum boats for a variety of customers. The welder/fabricator must follow the building instructions that comply with the regulatory specs to successfully support the build of a boat.This is a 1st shift position with working hours being Monday - Friday, 7 am through 3:30 pm.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.Using MIG or TIG weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positionsProduce consistent quality welds on aluminum using GMAW and GTAW processes with primary focus on GMAW.Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.Operates a wide variety of handheld and power-assisted tools and production fixturesEnsures quality and accuracy of their workReports issues to supervisor or to team leadPositions and secures parts, using hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand tools.Selects, positions, and secures torch, cutting tips, or welding rod, according to type, thickness, area, and desired temperature of metal.Guides and directs flame or electrodes on or across work piece to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metal.Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the positionPreparing, loading, unloading, and driving of high speed watercrafts in variable weather conditions.Required Skills & AbilitiesSkills in welding, fabrication & fittingKnowledge and expertise in aluminum weldingKnowledge in standard build practices in comparable manufacturing environmentsFollows directions and procedures under limited supervisionConducts basic problem-solving skills under supervisionEffectively communicate to supervisor and managerAdheres to all procedures and safe work practicesActive Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.QualificationsApplicants with prior experience preferredWeld Certificate or education from a technical school preferred.Candidates must be able to pass a qualification test prior to being considered for hire.Physical requirementsPosition requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to work in tight spaces. Use of manufacturing equipment. Work in areas at times that are not environmentally controlled. Able to move/lift/pull/push 50 lbs.
