Sunnyside Care Center is actively looking for a Director of Food and Nutritional Services to join our food service team. As our Food Service Director, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the dietary department and tasked with providing our residents with nutritious, palatable, and presentable meals.

This position will assist the facility with maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, privacy, care, and cleanliness within the facility. Previous experience as the Director of Food Services in a nursing home setting is preferred but is not required.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day operations by delegating authority, assigning, and prioritizing department functions and monitoring their daily outcomes.

Establish a cycle menu, menu extensions, recipes, menu calculations, and production sheets with the assistance of the dietician.

Attend all administrative meetings.

Perform various audits and inspections to present at the facility's quality assurance.

Ensure food service operates within weekly established budgetary guidelines for staffing as well as supplies.

Monitor food control systems such as food temperatures, portion control, preparation, and presentation of food.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and the NYSDOH survey inspection process.

Plan, assign, and inspect the work of the food service team.

Monitor the storage and care of food and paper supplies along with our emergency supplies.

Manage the HR functions of the department such as interviewing, hiring, orientation, discipline, education, and supervision of the team.

Oversee the overall sanitation and cleaning of the kitchen, storage, and equipment.

Upon admission, meet with residents and/or responsible parties and establish diet preferences.

Ensure diet orders are changed on meal tracker if a resident experiences any type of diet change by nursing or the speech therapist.

Assist with the planning of special parties, events, or buffets.

Complete supply orders and maintain appropriate PAR levels.

Conduct annual education as well as on an as-needed basis.

Assist as needed within the department.

Any other duties as assigned by the administrator.

Qualifications:

Must have reliable transportation.

Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Must be a good communicator.

Must be able to work various hours.

Must have or be willing to get their Certified Dietary Manager Certificate through ServSafe.

$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
