About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a new opportunity for a Ship Superintendent to join our DDG Program based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Ship Manager. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including a 9 day fortnight.As the Ship Superintendent you will be responsible for the coordination, supervision, and de-confliction of day-to-day production tasks on-board the Ship. You will work closely with the Area Managers to ensure activities are executed safely and efficiently on board.

Key responsibilities include:Work with the Area Managers to ensure on-board activities are planned and coordinated in a manner that aligns to site controls, and minimizes risksMonitoring day-to-day activities to ensure they are executed in accordance with the Ship Plan of the Day (SPOD)De-confliction of incompatible activities conducted by BAE employees and subcontract labour to ensure a safe and efficient work environment on the ShipEnsure effective communication is maintained with the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) AdvisorsWork with the SHE Department to ensure good communication flow and rapid response to safety concerns on shipEnsure all work is performed safely, in accordance with legislation and company procedures and policiesIn the absence of the Ship Manager, verify and authorise safety critical activities on the ShipAbout YOUTrade qualification and demonstrated experience in Safety, Health and Environment in a high risk industrial environmentPrevious experience in ship construction and maintenanceAbility to clearly document work performed in accordance with the Critical Risk Management SystemAbility to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder managementProven ability to function confidently within a project team and broader business environmentExcellent communication skills both written and verbal to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the businessEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulationsWe believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
