Shift Schedule:

Monday - Saturday with two rotating days off during the week.

4:30am - 4:30pm (12 hour shifts)

Overtime required based on business needs

Job Purpose and OverviewAs a Quality Assurance Technician I, you will be responsible for performing daily quality activities in the plant which includes but not limited to process audit, GMP audits, various in process or laboratory testing to ensure every ingredient and finished good meet product specifications. The Quality Technician is responsible for identifying quality issues, reporting them to the appropriate person and initiating the corrective action process.

What Does It Take to be a Quality Assurance Technician I at Dawn Foods?Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

High School Diploma preferred

1 year of experience and/or equivalent education in supporting plants and assessing the effectiveness of plant quality and food safety programs

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to problem solve in variable situations

Must be able to work well with others and independently

Knowledge of basic lab equipment such as water activity, viscometers, etc.

Basic math, record keeping and computer skills

What will you do as a Quality Assurance Technician I at Dawn Foods?

Monitors and inspects and tests the products in process or in the lab. Ensures the products meet all specifications. Records all information and reports any discrepancies.

Monitors and checks the calibration of measuring equipment and the operation of metal detectors to ensure proper operation. Reports any problems immediately.

Performs formula audits and process audits, documents audit results.

Monitors adherence to all food safety and quality programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices and the Food Safety Plan. Reports any problems to the appropriate Lead/Supervisor.

Promotes and facilitates safe work practices at all times.

Takes appropriate actions to ensure the safety of all Dawn team members.

Performs environmental swabbing as per the schedule.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Assists in the investigation of out of compliance products.

Must be able to work in an environment where various allergens, including, but not limited to nuts, are received as shipments, mixed in ingredients, used as toppings, or baked into product. This will fluctuate based on business need.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy.
