Location: Plainsboro, New JerseyThe Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in the US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and helping shape upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and globally. We’re looking for individuals who are enterprise thinkers, inclusive leaders, and strong collaborators, as we embark on shaping our future.The PositionThe Rare Disease 5D Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a Data, Diagnostics, Drug, Device, and Digital strategy and execution for relevant therapeutic areas (TAs), aligned closely with NNI Rare Disease overarching business objectives. This role will drive customer impact by deepening the understanding of the customer journey, bringing innovation to life with wrap-around solutions, and ensuring the integration of data, digital, devices, and diagnostics into the broader healthcare ecosystem to better serve Rare Disease patients. The role is accountable for developing the go-to-market plan for the launch of a customer-centric strategy and initiatives that will enable awareness, early diagnosis, differentiation, and ultimately the uptake and adoption of assets within respective TAs. This role will be instrumental in navigating the evolving landscape of healthcare and technology integration. Additionally, this role requires a senior-level strategic thinker who can independently identify and deliver 5D endeavors to the rare disease communities we serve.A key responsibility of this role will be alliance management in addition to strategy and execution. Partnering with reputable, global multi-national companies, this position will ensure that stakeholders on both sides are in alignment related to strategy, execution, compliance, privacy, and legal matters. This requirement is a must-have, and the candidate must also have the requisite maturity to represent Novo Nordisk.This role will tightly align with the global Rare Disease 5D organization and local TA leads. He/she also oversees how the 5D strategy integrates with disease education efforts and Novo Nordisk's commitment to rare disease community involvement and development, go-to-market planning, optimization, and drives cross-functional collaboration within the business and with external partners, enabling strong, collaborative working relationships.RelationshipsReports to respective TA Lead. Responsible for providing interface with key internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, global 5D, Marketing, Strategic Partnership and Engagement, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Market Access and Public Affairs (MAPA), Portfolio Strategy, Insights and Analytics, IT, Data Strategy, Commercial Excellence, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Regulatory Affairs, and other relevant NNI departments to ensure alignment with TA objectives and strategies.Essential FunctionsLead the development and implementation of data, diagnostics, drug, device, and precision health focused strategy and execution for relevant TAs that aligns with NNI Rare Diseases business objectives and goals across therapeutic areas.Develop innovative and compelling 5D strategic and tactical plans that are rooted in deep customer insights and drive differentiation and brand performance for inline and launch assets.Develop innovative pilots and solutions that impact performance and results.Ensure alignment of 5D pre-launch and launch strategy with cross-functional stakeholders and marketing leadership.Flawlessly execute 5D pre-launch and launch tactical plans addressing market, customer, and brand needs.Ensure innovation through the establishment of the 5D capabilities throughout the organization.Ensure effective alignment of digital health tactics across various customer segments and marketing activities to drive business objectives.Work with Field Sales/PSP/Strategic Engagement and Partnership to ensure customer adoption of 5D initiatives.Drive the development and implementation of 5D solutions including project planning and product management activities.Support implementation by educating stakeholders on how to utilize the products and encourage adoption and engagement.The role drives 5D across the entire value chain (Patient, HCP, and Payer).Opportunity IdentificationFully understand disease state, market dynamics, patient and provider journey, customer insights, and competitive landscape to inform strategic approach and key brand decisions.Identify new 5D opportunities within the customer experience landscape based on a deep understanding of the customer journey and related needs within the TA.Evaluate new partnership opportunities to bring innovation for rare disease patients in relevant TAs.Establish and oversee the 5D health portfolio, including product lifecycle planning, prioritization, and optimization to achieve strategic goals.Emerging Technologies and Data IntegrationStay current with 5D innovation and competitive landscape and evaluate/identify opportunities for business development.Evaluate and recommend technologies that can enhance customer engagement, brand positioning, and overall commercial success based on the latest innovations and emerging technologies, including diagnostics, data, digital health solutions, medical devices, and precision health.Utilize knowledge of technology to support data and asset integration with 5D projects/initiatives.Technology Partnerships and Vendor ManagementIdentify and establish strategic partnerships with start-ups, technology companies, and other external partners across diagnostics, medical devices, digital health, digital therapeutics, and data analytics to execute effectively and efficiently on innovative health ideas and gain access to cutting-edge solutions.Manage vendor and partner relationships to support the implementation and execution of 5D initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and leveraging external expertise to enhance capabilities.Strategic GuidanceCollaborate with the team to align 5D health strategies with specific therapeutic goals and enable cross-functional engagement planning.Performance Metrics and Budget TrackingDefine and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of 5D strategies.Establish and implement key metrics to track and communicate the impact of initiatives to relevant stakeholders.Continuously monitor and enhance customer satisfaction by analyzing relevant metrics and feedback, driving improvements to elevate the overall experience and brand uptake.Responsible for project management and coordination including overall ownership, monitoring and tracking of the 5D launch plans, budget management, as well as development and compilation of dashboard metrics.Optimize agency and partnership expenses by looking for opportunities to maximize value while minimizing agency and partnership costs. Follow internal and external procedures in managing contracts. Identify and develop comprehensive measurements, analytics, and reporting to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives.Regularly evaluate the effectiveness, value, and impact of existing programs while monitoring competitors’ efforts.Stakeholder PartnershipCollaborate closely with TA Lead, marketing, and global 5D teams to ensure a high degree of integration of 5D strategies with broader TA and asset plans.Work collaboratively with medical, market access, regulatory, legal, compliance, privacy, and public affairs functions to support strategies and market approach for rare disease 5D solutions.Partner with CI&A, Patient Services, Data strategy, Commercial Excellence and Innovation, and HEOR to enable data integration and utilization from our 5D efforts.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate pre-launch and launch plans for the innovative solutions in support of the customer journey.Physical RequirementsApproximately 20-30% overnight travel.QualificationsRequires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree in a related field preferred.10+ years of progressive experience required in the pharmaceutical industry. A focus on device, digital, diagnostic, data strategy, and portfolio management strongly preferred.Minimum 2 years of experience required in dedicated digital/diagnostic/device with a global healthcare company.In-depth knowledge of the diagnostics, device, and digital market and solutions, including technological trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive dynamics.Experience in establishing and facilitating strategic business partnerships and agreements; building business cases and presenting for all levels of management preferred.Demonstrated ability to innovate and apply creative thinking to complex business challenges.Strategic Planning, Execution, and follow-through skills required.Experience with management of external partners.Strong project management skills to lead and oversee multiple initiatives from concept to execution, while adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into 5D strategies and execute in alignment with business objectives and market needs.Proven track record of innovative market shaping accomplishments/high impact results (based on metrics/ROI).Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex, emerging digital health concepts to diverse stakeholders.Strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive cross-functional initiatives.We commit to an inclusive recruitment process and equality of opportunity for all our job applicants.
