Hours of Work:

Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a full-time, benefited Managerial 5 level position. Starting salary range: $82,820.00 - $93,623.00/annually, depending upon experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Strategic Projects is responsible for managing and overseeing the successful delivery of large-scale, complex projects to ensure alignment with organizational goals and strategic priorities. This position involves evaluating, prioritizing and balancing multiple college projects to optimize resources, drive efficiency, and achieve successful project outcomes. The Director works closely with stakeholders and leadership to track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure that projects deliver value on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include developing project management frameworks, improving project management processes, monitoring project performance, and ensuring consistent reporting and communication across all levels of the organization. The Director also plays a key role in shaping the organization’s project management strategy and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Direct and oversee the successful execution of projects by maximizing resources, optimizing team performance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Drive continuous improvement in project management practices and foster organizational learning by developing and implementing an annual evaluation method that assesses project performance and identifies key areas for growth.

Support the successful development and execution of projects across the LCCC campus by assisting and training employees throughout the project management cycle.

Ensure the successful management of all projects by monitoring, communicating, and reporting on project status.

Build strong networks of support by organizing and leading teams to develop and implement projects that leverage shared resources and expertise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

Knowledge of project management methodologies.

Knowledge of research methodologies and evaluative approaches, preferably with proven design and application in an academic setting.

Knowledge of and experience in accounting and budgetary procedures.

Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Skills:

Understand enterprise information technology systems and services.

Judgement and Decision Making.

Reading Comprehension – understanding and interpreting instructions in oral, written or diagrammatical form.

Ability to interact effectively with others, build relationships, and manage interpersonal dynamics.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the capacity to convey complex information clearly.

Active Listening – giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Abilities:

Ability to effectively manage project teams that comprise a diverse demographic of employees and non-employee participants.

Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines, frequent interruptions, and some interpersonal pressure.

The ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information.

Ability to independently perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects; experienced working in a professional and fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate confidentiality with regard to employee and student data, documents, issues, etc., and respect privacy needs of employees and past employees with regard to the same.

The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required.

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the office space as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities.

There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged personal computer use which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor.

An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal points quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasks as well.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification OR qualifications and experience necessary to obtain the PMP within 1 year of initial employment.

Five years of project management experience.

Experience working in a postsecondary institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Portfolio Management Professional (PiMP) certification.

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Postsecondary leadership experience.

Postsecondary experience within a comprehensive community college.

Experience conducting Portfolio Project Management (PfMP).

Experienced in supervising subordinates.
