Job Summary:
Core responsibilities of this position include:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Laramie County Community College (LCCC) serves as a strategic leader responsible for the development, management, and execution of the College’s information technology strategy. The CIO aligns technology with the institution's academic, administrative, and strategic objectives, fostering innovation to enhance teaching, learning, the student experience, and operational efficiency. This role involves oversight of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT governance, and the implementation of technology-driven initiatives that support the institution’s goals.
Additionally, the CIO ensures seamless technology integration across departments, optimizing IT resources, managing budgets, and delivering superior user experiences for students, faculty, and staff. By collaborating with key stakeholders and driving the adoption of emerging technologies, the CIO plays a critical role in improving institutional performance, securing digital assets, and enhancing the overall educational experience.

Ensures that the institution's IT strategy aligns with institutional goals, ensuring adoption of innovative technologies that enhances the institution’s ability to adapt to evolving educational needs, improving student outcomes, academic excellence, and operational efficiency.
Ensure the protection of institutional data and compliance with legal and regulatory standards by maintaining a robust cybersecurity framework to mitigate risks of cyber threats, data breaches, and system downtime.
Ensure a reliable, secure, and scalable IT infrastructure that supports institutional operations by delivering efficient, integrated, and accessible systems that enhance the academic and administrative experience for students, faculty and staff.
Ensure a positive user experience for students, faculty, staff, and other users through the provision of seamless IT services, responsive IT support, and continuously improving systems evidenced by high satisfaction rates for IT services, minimal system downtime, and faster resolution of technology issues.
Ensure fiscal efficiency in IT spending by developing, monitoring, and adjusting financial plans to ensure efficient allocation of IT resources that support institutional priorities and operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge
Knowledge of IT budgeting, resource allocation, and cost control.
Knowledge of contemporary business tools/equipment including (but not limited to) personal computers and associated peripherals, smart phone and other wireless devices, software applications, etc.
Knowledge of Ellucian’s (formerly Datatel) Colleague desired.
Knowledge and understanding of the philosophy and objectives of the community college.
Skills

Physical/Mental Demands:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions.

QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in IT-related
Proven hands-on experience managing and implementing IT infrastructure, security, and/or enterprise systems in a complex organization.
Experience with project management, including implementing large-scale technology projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s degree or higher in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Additional IT certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), ITIL certification, etc.
Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation initiatives or large-scale IT modernization projects in an academic setting.
Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and/or academic computing environments.
