Job Summary

Croda is seeking a seasoned R&D professional with expertise in the agrochemical industry to support the Crop Care business. The newly created position, in our Atlas Point R&D center located in Delaware, requires a self-starter with knowledge in colloid science, physical chemistry, and formulation experience (understanding biology is a plus). This individual should be able to independently design and execute research programs that lead to technical/commercial successes. Strong scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills to engage with our customers is a must.

The individual in this position will create and develop various pesticide formulations and delivery systems for a wide range of active ingredients. This individual should be skilled in the conception and development of formulations for agriculture and have excellent communication skills with peers in Croda and our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under minimal guidance of senior colleagues, develops concepts, plans and executes effective experiments, generates reproducible data, interprets results.

Exploration and development of different formulations and delivery system technologies for Agrichemical applications.

Collaboration with Crop Care R&T globally and other functions across the company to deliver maximum success, such as analytical R&T, process development, application technology, biology, regulatory, operations and marketing/commercial teams.

Develop collaborations with partners both within Croda and in external organizations, including academics and other companies with unique chemistry or technology, to enhance and expand the Agro application capabilities of Croda.

Respond in a timely manner to business needs for the development of new data. Prepare written reports and presentation materials. Support the development of marketing and product literature.

Present Croda technology at various industry meetings and communicate/engage with customers.

Up to 25% travel (majority US based) is needed for this role.

Perform all duties within the Company’s safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

PhD or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related fields.

PhD with a minimum of 5 years related experience.

Master's with a minimum of 7 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Product formulation and evaluation experience (ideally 5+ years) across a range of types including solutions, suspensions, and solid powder/granules is preferred.

Clear understanding of the science behind the formation of stable and effective emulsions and dispersions along with the role of inert ingredients in product performance.

Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating initiative and ownership, capable of independent work but keen to work as part of a global team.

Good communication skills are essential (written and verbal) since participating in technical discussions with highly skilled customers and peers (internally and externally) is required.

The ability and willingness to analyze or help analyze own samples (familiar with relevant techniques) is preferred.

Physical requirements

Able to work at the laboratory bench for up to 8 hours a day.
