This position in our Formulation & Materials Science team within the global Science & Research organization at DSM-Firmenich is for a technical expert eager to establish and strengthen scientific capabilities within a dynamic interdisciplinary innovation team which discovers, develops, and deploys high-performance formulations, technologies, solutions and digital tools to stabilize and deliver actives, nutrients, flavors, fragrances to consumers at critical touchpoints. You will be responsible for systematically developing and optimizing solutions and liquid delivery systems in collaboration with innovators leveraging strong fundamentals spanning the disciplines of colloid science, soft matter physics, physical chemistry, interfacial science, food science engineering, supramolecular chemistry, materials science and chemical engineering.Your key responsibilitiesPropose, lead and conduct interdisciplinary research projects to develop, characterize and optimize novel, sustainable and performing solutions for flavor, fragrance and actives delivery in liquid formats and consumer products.Formulate and develop robust creation guidelines for stable emulsions, solutions and liquid delivery systems to enable commercialization of superior application-friendly technologies, for example in beverage or personal care applications.Serve as the lead technical expert and resource within our local Formulation & Materials Science S&R team, crosslink with peers and collaborators throughout the global F&MS team and innovation community and support internal clients and stakeholders through formalized knowledge transfers.Efficiently advance scientific program progress, communicate on scientific findings and secure Intellectual Property for the team through presentations, reports, patent applications and scientific publication in peer-reviewed literature.Supervise, mentor and develop research chemists.Evaluate, recommend and promote successful solutions and technologies from conception to commercialization.You bringPhD in Chemistry, Colloid Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Food Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, coupled with hands-on R&D laboratory experience. Industry formulation experience is a plus!Mastery in solubilization, emulsification, formulation, and colloid chemistry, including proficiency with all relevant colloidal characterization techniques and instruments.
