NoEssential Job Functions:Teaching:Provides high quality instruction in field of expertise, ensuring students meet course outcomes.Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.Selects and obtains materials and supplies, such as textbooks and laboratory equipment.Prepares course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.Identifies specialized materials for outside reading assignments.Initiates, facilitates, and moderates classroom discussions.Supervises laboratory sessions.Assists students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class.Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records.Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and/or papers.Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.Advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.Acts as advisor to student organizations, ensuring adherence to college and university policies and procedures.Clinical Instruction:Assesses clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods.Demonstrates patient care in clinical units of hospitals.Research & Scholarship:Conducts research in a particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.Reviews papers for publication in journals.Supervises undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work.Service & Professional Development:Participates in campus and community events, such as giving presentations to the public.Actively identifies opportunities and provides service relating to fields of expertise for the benefit of internal and external communities.Other Assigned Duties:Collaborates with staff and colleagues to address teaching and research issues, and to improve students' learning experiences.Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.Performs other duties or projects as assigned or required.Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Knowledge:Dental Medicine - Comprehensive knowledge of the information/techniques needed in Dental Medicine.Education/Training - Knowledge of principles/methods for curriculum/training design/teaching for individuals/groups, and the measurement of training effects.English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure/content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.Customer Service - General knowledge of principles/processes for providing customer and personal services.Skills:Instructing — Teaching others how to do something.Critical Thinking — Using logic/reasoning to identify the strengths/weaknesses of alternative solutions/approaches to problems.Abilities:Finger Dexterity — The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.Deductive Reasoning — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.Physical Requirements:Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.Must be able to see details at close range.Job Requirements:
