The Department of Chemistry at the University of Akron (https://www.uakron.edu/chemistry/) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry focusing on physical chemistry starting in August 2025.This search seeks to build a cohort of teacher-scholars who will offer a strong contribution to the excellence of UA through teaching, scholarship, service, and collaboration. We are particularly interested in scholars whose work touches on the pressing needs of cities and urban communities. We strive to create an environment where every student at the University feels included and welcomed.Required Qualifications:We welcome candidates who specialize in physical chemistry. Candidates will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded research group and carry out high-impact investigations that can be disseminated in quality peer review journals. Excellence in undergraduate teaching is a key requirement.Successful candidates will have an earned Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or a related discipline and demonstrated active research experience in the study of physical chemistry.Preferred Qualifications:Candidates with expertise in theory and calculations are preferred. Research plans that complement existing strengths in the department and University community are highly desirable.Application Instructions:
