Post DocJob Description:

The Physics department at Syracuse University is soliciting applications for a postdoctoral research associate who will work in Nuclear Physics experiments at JLab, including MOLLER and SoLID. The postdoc will work on DAQ electronics for the SoLID and Moller experiments. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal.Responsibilities:

The Solenoidal Large Intensity Device (SoLID) is a planned large acceptance spectrometer for Hall A at Jefferson Lab. A large number of experiments have been approved that will use SoLID. The main experiments are PVDIS (Parity-Violating Deep Inelastic Scattering), three SIDIS (Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering), and one J/ψ production experiment. During the period from October 2023 to October 2025, the postdoc will help assemble and test the

SoLID

data acquisition system at Jefferson Lab. Jefferson Lab will provide the components of the DAQ system. This DAQ system will consist of 30 VXS crates with each filled with VXS Trigger Processor (VTP) module, Trigger Interface module, signal distribution module, VME CPU module, Flash ADC modules. Additionally, two VXS crates will have a VME CPU module, the Trigger Master, the Trigger Distribution modules and the SubSystem Processor modules. With the guidance of the Jefferson Lab Fast Electronics Group, the DAQ software will be developed and tested for the trigger needed by the PVDIS and the SIDIS configurations of SoLID. In addition, the postdoc will assist in developing DAQ hardware for the Moller experiment at JLab.Application Instructions:
