POSITION SUMMARY:

The Security Supervisor is responsible for the entire security function of each shift and overall supervisor of Officers and Security Dispatchers. The Security Supervisor will establish priorities, maintain follow-up to ensure adherence to schedules and work standards. The Supervisor will report all security matters to the Security Manager and supervise plan and schedule security activities on a daily basis.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 21 years of age.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise the entire security staff assigned to their shift.

Routinely exercise authorities to suggest or recommend advancements, promotions, hiring, firing.

Plan and supervise on-the-job training.

Continually evaluate subordinates for alertness, appearance and proper performance of duties.

Handle employee grievances and/or discipline.

Check all reports for accuracy and completeness.

Report any incident to Department Heads when it concerns their department.

Brief Security Manager on all matters that should be brought to their attention.

Report all unsafe conditions to the Security Manager.

During the absence of the Security Manager, contact Casino Executives regarding such matters as fires, bomb threats, power outage, and other serious matters on emergencies that should be brought to their attention.

Plan work of officers; schedule vacations and replacements that are needed.

Recommend transfer/promotions through e-transfer.

Investigate complaints about security from guests, Department Heads, Supervisor, etc.

Recommend disciplinary action when needed.

Respond to all fire alarms and other emergencies within property.

Orientate all new employees and provide them with the necessary training.

Assist patrons in answering questions and direct them to areas of safety during emergencies as instructed by management, security or senior management.

Assure exceptional customer service to all patrons by communicating in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times.

Perform other job-related tasks, as assigned by the Security Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

PHYSICAL - Must be able to:

Be mobile in all areas of the land and casino operation.

Recognize and respond to emergency situations involving fire, smoke, hazardous chemicals, etc.

Communicate via telephone and two-way radio.

Communicate verbally, with the general public, hotel guests, and employees.

Tolerate noisy environment and hot/cold weather conditions.

Climb steps repeatedly.

MENTAL - Must be able to:

Use basic writing skills to complete reports.

Understand and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.

Verbally communicate with guests and employees concerning complaints, requests, directions, etc.

Work under stressful conditions.

PREREQUISITES/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be employed at Harrah’s for a minimum of one (1) year in the capacity of Security Officer and Supervisory experience required. Prefer that candidate have Law Enforcement or Security experience with supervision background. Education beyond high school or military experience will also qualify. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective professional working relationship with management, staff, and co-workers; pleasant personality, team oriented and enjoys working with and assisting people.

GAMING:

Must have the ability to hold an Occupational License as required by the Illinois Gaming Board.
