Auburn UniversityJob Description:Dr. Lauren Beckingham’s (https://laurenbeckingham.wordpress.com) Water-Rock Interactions in Subsurface Energy Systems (WRISES) environmental engineering group in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher with opportunity to start immediately. This group focuses on advancing fundamental knowledge of fate and transport processes in environmental systems and developing sustainable solutions to climate change and environmental problems at the energy-water nexus. In our work, we couple numerical, experimental, and imaging investigations to enhance understanding of geochemical reactions and fate and transport in subsurface systems. Multiple projects funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) are ongoing. Current recruiting efforts are seeking a postdoctoral scholar with interest and expertise in pore scale numerical simulations of mineral precipitation in porous media. This is a collaborative project with national laboratory scientists and an independent scholar with strong computational skills and a desire to push simulation boundaries is sought.About Auburn University:Auburn University is one of the nation’s premier public land-grant institutions that provides collaborative opportunities with experts throughout the sciences and engineering. The applicant should have prior numerical simulation experience and expertise; experience with CFD or DNS, in particular with OpenFOAM, is highly desired.
