MISSION:

To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Education Director is responsible for implementing the 5 key elements of positive youth development in their daily interactions with youth as well as their employees, and is responsible for the development, supervision and review of the 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school academic success program. The Education Director’s responsibilities will include safety, relationships with parents and students, planning curriculum, development of enrichment activities for each student based on teacher-referred needs, planning quarterly check-ins with parents/guardians, tracking youth numbers, and the overall supervision of this program. All employees of the Boys & Girls Club will be expected to uphold the mission of the Club.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact driven, teamwork, and good character

Lead discipline and guidance for youth having behavioral challenges and assist with the creation and implementation of youth success plans

Assist with facilitating and attend Club trainings, including the monthly all staff meetings

Implement the detailed 21st CCLC afterschool academic success and tutoring program’s timeline from approved grant

Manage daily activities at each 21st CCLC program location by creating weekly programming plans

Responsible for budget tracking of the 21st CCLC program

Work with Marketing Director to market and promote the program

Manage the 21st CCLC timeline to ensure the program is meeting the goals and objectives

Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and disciplining teachers and assistant teachers to work in the program at each school site in order to maintain a 1:10 staff to student ratio

Supervise employees, which includes writing 60-day reviews, performance plans, and holding weekly and bi-weekly one-on-one meetings

Communicate with school administrators and teachers to ensure each student is receiving help on the teacher-referred academic areas

Implement student evaluations according to the 21st CCLC grant plan

Coordinate transportation for each student based on the family’s needs

Assist with community-wide Club activities, as well as collaborate family engagement activities into the community-wide Club activities

Perform other duties as assigned

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from an Accredited University, Education degree preferred

Experience working with youth in 1st-5th grades

Management/Supervisory Experience

Must be able to understand, implement, and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety

Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to employees to ensure they too understand and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, parents etc. at the Club to ensure safety of the space and others, provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals

Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time throughout a shift

Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, etc.
