BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position manages and supervises the operations, maintenance, and staff of Sebago Lake State Park camping area, day-use area, and Songo Lock in Casco and Naples, Maine. The 1,400-acre park is situated on Maine’s second-largest lake and is the busiest and most actively used camping and day-use park in the Bureau of Parks and Lands. It has year-round activities including swimming, picnicking, boating, family and group camping, group day use, fishing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. This position may be assigned other regional responsibilities.
Housing: When housing is available, there is an expectation that the position resides in it.
Responsibilities include:
Managing park facilities which utilize complex potable water systems, pumped sewage systems, and campsites with electrical and water hook-ups
Supervising employees
Providing educational programs to visitors and school groups, serving the public, and working closely with local groups and volunteers
Coordinating public outreach programs on a statewide level
Representing the bureau in job recruitment and at career fairs
Representative tasks include:
Supervising Park maintenance and operations
Developing positive community relations
Managing Park interpretation and promotion
Providing Park administration
Supervising protection and enforcement activities
Directing emergency management activities
Supervising all staff training

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associate's Degree in Recreation Management or a related field and a minimum of four years supervisory experience in park recreation or a similar related activity. Directly related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and qualifications in the following areas:
Knowledge and experience supervising and managing a large staff.
Knowledge and experience maintaining and operating complex infrastructure.
Knowledge and experience with rule compliance and enforcement techniques.
