Job Title: Community Development Director
General Summary:
The City of East Cleveland seeks a dynamic Community Development Director to lead initiatives aimed at revitalizing underdeveloped areas and fostering economic growth. This role is crucial for planning and managing community development projects that enhance the quality of life for residents and stimulate local business expansion.
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement department goals and objectives aligned with the City’s development plan, focusing on community revitalization and economic sustainability.
Project Management:
Manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring timely execution and adherence to budgets.
Oversee personnel management within the Departments of Community Development and Building and Housing, including hiring, training, and performance reviews.
Compliance:
Coordinate policies and procedures for programs such as CDBG, HOME, and Special Purpose Grants to ensure regulatory compliance and effectiveness.
Evaluate grant-eligible projects, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and approval criteria.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with community stakeholders to identify needs and develop strategies for neighborhood improvement.
Plan coordination for stakeholder meetings.
Data Analysis:
Review growth patterns, land use trends, and community needs to inform recommendations for effective development strategies.
Prepare and present periodic status reports to stakeholders on departmental activities and outcomes.
Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree in urban studies, Regional Planning, Public Administration, or Business Administration required.
Experience:
Experience in community/economic development, with a focus on large-scale community redevelopment projects and revitalization of disinvested neighborhoods. Experience with CDBG, HOME, or other federal funding sources is highly desirable.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Housing and Urban Development practices and relevant regulations.
Skills:
Proficiency in project management software and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
