The UTRGV School Of Medicine (UTRGV SOM) is seeking a Board Certified physician in Internal Medicine to provide both non-teaching and academic hospitalist services. Academic responsibilities will include teaching residents in the inpatient clinical setting and in the classroom. Participation in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, and other administrative and program committees are expected. Also, preparation and presentation of program didactics, grand rounds, and assisting with undergraduate medical education will be assigned at the Chair’s discretion. While previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred, individuals just finishing residency training are highly encouraged to apply.As faculty, the physician will also administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials.Minimum Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License and completion of ACGME residency.Preferred Qualifications

Additional InformationUTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
