As a Communications Technician, you will apply advanced telecommunications knowledge and skills gained in the maintenance, operations, installation, commissioning, and testing of Western Power telecommunications facilities.This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters, the depot empowers all employees to create that perfect work-life balance whilst operating in an inclusive and diverse workplace.Your Role in ActionProviding technical expertise in the maintenance, operations, installation, commissioning, and testing of Western Power telecommunications facilities.Diagnose to board level complex electronic faults in a wide range of Telecommunications equipment and Networks.Assist with preparation of technical reports, procedures, and programmes.What Makes You a Great FitCert IV in Electrotechnology / Electronics / Telecommunications or Radio / telecommunications Trade Certificate.At least 4-6 years relevant technical experience in a telecommunications or related industry.Sound knowledge of SCADA & Telecommunications installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operations field practices and procedures.Advanced knowledge of DC Systems.Advanced knowledge of Telecommunications Technologies e.g. PDH / SDH / Radio / SCADA Systems.Advanced knowledge of Teleprotection Systems.Advanced knowledge of Western Powers Telecommunications network construction, maintenance & field-based practices and procedures.Project, contract, and maintenance management systems and tools.Continuous improvement, training, and coaching techniques.Advanced knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and procedures applicable to the Section and Stream.MS Office systems, Word, Excel & or Access. Ellipse and scheduling/work management systems.Be a team player and a role model to less experienced Communications Technicians.Be innovative and use appropriate technology to improve and manage the Telecommunications Networks.By joining Western Power, you will contribute to powering a cleaner energy future.
