San Marcos, Round RockPosition Description:Texas State University is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor of Professional Counseling beginning Fall 2025. This position will involve teaching, research, service, and program support in a CACREP-accredited, master’s level Professional Counseling Program in Central Texas, focused on the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) degree track.Specific responsibilities include:• Teaching courses leading to licensure in professional counseling• Maintaining an active and productive program of research• Engaging in external funding submissions• Providing service to the program, department, university, and profession

This position will include teaching core courses in our counseling program, particularly Clinical Practicum, Counseling Diverse Populations, Career Counseling, Assessment, and other CMHC courses as needed. The successful candidate will be headquartered on the main university campus in San Marcos and will teach courses on both campuses.Required Qualifications:Required qualifications for Assistant Professor rank:• An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program by employment date of hire.• A record of, or the demonstration of the potential for, research and publication at the national and/or international levels.• A record of, or the demonstration of the potential for, securing external funding for research.• A professional clinical license (e.g., Licensed Professional Counselor [LPC]) or a provisional clinical license (e.g., LPC Associate) with a plan to complete the professional license in Texas within two years.Preferred Qualifications:Preferred qualifications for Assistant Professor rank:• A documented record of securing external funding for research.• Experience teaching core courses in a CACREP-accredited program in the teaching areas listed above.• Designation as a clinical supervisor (e.g., LPC-S) and experience providing clinical supervision in an academic setting.Application Instructions:
