Job Summary:

The Scientist II will join the School of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Comparative Biosciences in the Hornberger Laboratory, which studies skeletal muscle molecular physiology. The incumbent will identify research problems, design research methodologies, perform research, and prepare and/or present results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.Responsibilities:

20% Identifies research problems and develops complex research methodologies and procedures40% Collects and analyzes complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities10% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information15% Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding5% May supervise the day-to-day activities of a research unit as neededEducation:

Required: PhD in Cell biology, physiology, molecular biology, exercise physiology, animal anatomy, or closely related field of studyQualifications:

Minimum of 1-year of post-doctorate experience required in teaching and/or a minimum of 1-year post-doctoral fellowshipWork Type:

Full Time: 100%It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 12 month appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or fundingSalary:
