Job Summary:
The Scientist I will be expected to conduct research at the level of a co-principal investigator and work with Dr. Allan Brasier on project development, experimental design, data analysis, presentation and publication of results, grant writing, mentorship of trainees, and collaborative research. The Brasier Lab studies activation and consequences of innate inflammation and epithelial plasticity on cellular remodeling in airway diseases. Particular areas of focus involve examining the role of growth factor and extracellular matrix reprogramming through epigenetics.Research projects include studies in cell model systems, quantitative and discovery-level proteomics, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and the development of unique animal models using tissue-specific gene silencing. Candidates should have familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, siRNA silencing, protein biochemistry, and nucleic acid analysis.Candidates should be able to demonstrate mentorship/leadership experience, have the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment, have a passion for scientific discovery, and a rigorous approach to their work. There is a collaborative learning environment through interactions with other groups across campus that allows for scientific and personal growth.Responsibilities:
Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs research, and helps to prepare the results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.5% Assists with the identification of research problems and the development of research methodologies and procedures75% Collects and analyzes research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision and limited responsibility5% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities5% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information10% Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research fundingEducation:
Required: PhD in a biological sciences field is required.Qualifications:
Required: Candidates must have at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience in molecular and cellular biology and animal studies. This includes recombinant DNA cloning, Q-RT-PCR, lentiviral construction.Preferred: Ability to develop new protocols and troubleshoot technical challenges; experience writing manuscripts for scientific publication; experience with proteomics sample preparation, affinity isolation techniques.Work Type:
Full Time: 100%. It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.Appointment Type, Duration:

Minimum
$55,000 ANNUAL (12 months). Depending on Qualifications. The starting salary for the position is $55,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
